It's about execution, not strategy

Your nugget of the day:

Navy beat SMU 34-7 on Saturday. It ran 77 plays on offense.

They were all runs.

That's 77 plays, 0 pass attempts, 34 points.

My point: You don't need fancy spread offenses with long bombs. You can win with well-called runs and execution by the offense.

(For the record, I'm not advocating Central go to the wishbone, just pointing out that there's more than one way to get something done.)

  1. Matt,

Not that I disagree, but we don't have Navy's game plan either. They are committed to a plan that works for them.

I haven't seen what we are trying to do. Are we running to open the pass? Are we running all day no matter what? Do we want a 2 TE formation for the run and passing game? Why do we move to the pass when we are down? I just don't see what we are doing?

And we need more answers on D? Fans are corncered about the QB situation, but the D has been a concern all year (except at DSU).

  2. JJ,
Central has a plan, most of the public just doesn't like it. The Blue Devils will always be a run-first program. I'd like to see them let Aubrey do a little more (he's a very accurate passer when allowed to be), but the spread is something they will only go to when desperate. That's just the way it is.
I think the D (before the MU game) has actually been good... they've gotten stops when they were really needed (see 2nd half at Albany) and that's what matters. It's not the 85 Bears, but that's the least of Central's worries. Sinisi, I think, is just on another level from CCSU, so he's an exception.
