2 quickies

1) My friend and colleague Ken Lipshez found Barry Hertzler, he's playing with the Bridgeport Bluefish.

2) Blue: I was referencing a post on May 1 on here about the fields. You're not the only one surprised about the progress over there, but I also tried to point out that I am far from an expert on construction and don't know just how much has to be done by now for things to be on schedule. I'll keep on some people at CCSU and get updates periodically.

  1. Matt, as many on the fan blog are, I'm concerned. Concerned more than frustrated.
I hope that the planning person or committee is not the same one that planned the football stadium. Had there been some thought for the future, that stadium could have been designed to accommodate the expansion that we now need.
I just hope that they've taken the best mind(s) and are listening to him/her/them, now.
And, the fact that little has been done means that they've run into a problem or problems or, someone's inept. I hate to talk that way and I don't know who's involved. It just doesn't seem right. What's going on?

  2. Thanks Matt. I read the May 1 post a few weeks ago and just didn't connect the reference. As a fan I guess my big concern will be if the CCSU Baseball and Softball teams will be back on campus next year or will they be wanderers again? Fans origianl impression was that the Baseball and Softball feidls would be done in 2008, Soccer would be diplaced in 2009, and then Arute woudl be expanded in 2010. Right now it looks as though it has become a 4-5 year project instad of the 3-4 years origianlly projected. Who knows, maybe fans are over reacting and we'll see a nice new baseball and softball facility ready to go next year. With Northeastern and Hofstra on the football schedule in the future, an AQ to the FCS Plaoffs now possible and soccer having success, as a fan I would just like to see CCSU be in the position to host some potential big games in the future. After all, that was one of the intents of the project, to enable CCSU to host FCS Playoff games and NCAA Tournament games. I've been a big fan of the NEC the past few years (yes, I complain about the public/private ratio but I like the NEC) and I'd just like to see CCSU put their best foot forward with their NEC peers.
