2 quickies

More to come, but here's 2 quick thoughts.
1) Blue: Horton is not a power forward. He's a tweener. An exceptionally skilled tweener, but a tweener. He's not going to have the role Simmons does. Marcus can do it to some extent because he is much bigger. Horton would get beat up.
2) The scoring issues are as much because the guards aren't making shots as anything else. That won' t last, so don't panic yet.

  1. Matt, I don't think Kenny Horton is a Power Forward and I don't expect him to fill the role of a David Simmons. That is exactly what I have been saying in all my post, Kenny Horton is not a power forward, he is an excellent Small Forward. He isa player with the sills in between a Power Forward and a 3-guard. That is why I am lobbying or expressing the opinon that CCSU absolutely needs to recruit a legimate Poer Forward (bigger and taller then Simmons) to complemet Horton. Horton is not a Power Forward, I know that and I never implied he was. The problem is Horton is being asked to do too much. He's being asked to grab offensive rebounds, block shots, and be a presense inside all while he is playing the perimeter. That doesn't jive. He is not a Power Forward and that is exactly why I am confused when Howie says he wants him to bulk up and put on weight. Leave the kid alone and let him be a SF/3-guard tweener adn score 25 points a game by shooting the three, using the pick and roll, and putting back the occasional lose ball when a pick and roll flass apart. The answer isn't changing Kenny Horton and turning him into a Power Forward, the anser is recruitng a Power Forward to compliment Horton. Simmons is a "decent" PF who is an undersized over-achiever. CCSU needs a legitmate PF (build and height) inside. I really dont' understand why everyone thinks I am lobby for Kenny Horton to be a more aggressive Power Forward. I have said in every post he is a Small Forward or 3-guard..just leave him alone and let him score his 25 points.
