Book it

P.J. Borawski had the catch on Dezell Jones' first career TD pass. Only thing we missed. CCSU wins 45-14. Not pretty but it counts.

  1. Hello Matt,

As you said Matt, let's not hurt ourselves jumping on the band wagon yet just as we shouldn't jump ship after the loss to Top Ten UNH or a tough ride against Top Ten YSU. A few questions coming out of this game. Has the experienced transfer form Hofstra Everetette Benjiman won the featured running back role over Nate Pagan? Will we continue to see CCSU take advantage of their open men in the flat with nice little screen passes picking up yardage putting them in good position for a first down or will we see CCSU revert to it's pound the ground mentality vs FCS foes the rest of the way? Will we see our TE's again vs YSU and beyond or was it just an experiment vs D-II Bentley?

I was very happy with what the Blue Devils did offensively on Saturday vs Bentley. Gunner was the QB we saw in the recruiting highlight video posted on www.ccsufans.com and I believe Coach Mac is on to something by using Benjiman as a halfback, especially with Fowler out for the season. It still may be backfield by committee, but I think CCSU is in good shape if Everette is the featured RB. P.J. Borowski seemed to show good hands, at least on paper with his catches and CCSU seems to be developing a multiple option offense with a diverse core of receivers.

Special teams bailed CCSU out a lot last year and the Blue Devils don't seem to have that magic in that area this year. There also seems to be more holes on defense than in past years. What's your take on those two areas?
If everything goes as well as it did on Saturday we cold see an upset at YSU, but Coach Mac runs a match up offense and the problem may be the Blue Devils just don't match up against the Penguins.

BTW, I believe you are correct . The 2010-11 MBB schedule may be the programs most aggressive schedule since moving to D-I.

Great job with the blogging during the game and the stuff in the Herald.
