Very quick on football

Because it was such a non-game on every level, I won't talk too much about it. I'll just say this to some of my friends over on our favorite CCSU message board.

It literally takes thousands of reps to master a particular play, ask any big-time coach. You can't work on something the week before a big game and expect to be able to use it the next week. Football at any kind of advanced level just doesn't work that way. If you wanted CCSU to pass a lot against Albany, the prep work for that would have had to start literally 2-3 years ago, not last week.

This isn't Madden where you can work on a play for a couple of hours and get the hang of it.

  1. Matt, I agree with your opinion about big time football plays. They need to be worked on, over and over and over. They take time...sometimes 2-3 years for an offfense to start to click. I think fans are concerned that Coach Mac and his staff are not developing a passing game in practice. CCSU has had several opportunites in games like SFPA, SHU, and SBU to work on a passing game in "game situations" and we see very littel signs of life over then the SHU performance. Maybe Coach Mac will surprise CCSU fans and unveil a more balanced offense against Albany. Maybe you see something in practice, the endless reps. Maybe he know it is coming. But, the fans just see stagnent football...run after run after run..in a losing effort. Fans have a right to wonder why Norris isn't passing, why Holmes isn't passing. They are both decent passing QB's. Why isn't Rossnagle getting a few more opportunites. Why isn't Coach Mac using his WR's more. So many questions..and no hints to an answer.
